In 2026, CBIT was formally transformed into the University Research Institute for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (IBIT), consolidating its role as a leading interdisciplinary research structure in these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Research in our labs is focused on the engineering of the cell-material interface<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We develop and manufacture new material-based systems of biomedical interest, from hydrogel based matrices and polymer scaffolds to recombinant protein fragments and microparticles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/ibit.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/RIMG0006-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ibit.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/RIMG0006-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ibit.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/RIMG0006-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ibit.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/RIMG0006-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ibit.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/RIMG0006-1600x1200.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our work looks to develop materials with specific functional properties and to understand their interactions with cells in vitro and in vivo, with the guiding principle that we can engineer the combined use of materials, cells, proteins and other molecules, and physical stimuli, to guide cell behaviour and stem cell differentiation.
